Professor Janaka Ruwanpura is a professor of project management (PM) at the Schulich School of Engineering (University of Calgary), a professional engineer and a professional quantity surveyor in Canada. He served as the Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President Research - International at the University of Calgary for 11 years. He was a Canada Research Chair and Director of the Centre for Project Management Excellence. He has developed numerous best practices and tools successfully implemented in the construction industry to improve productivity, project management, planning, construction management, and risk management. In 2022, he was honored with the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award, introduced by the Prime Minister of Canada, among many awards and recognitions. His global recognition extends to his status as a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Engineering Institute of Canada, and Canadian Society for Civil Engineering and a member of the National Academy of Construction (USA).
